CHAPTER 1

Carolyn and Ed Eastman are a husband and wife team that wanted to do something different in the commercial fishing industry.

Carolyn’s background is in Education for 13 years. She has been an independent consultant for 8 years traveling nationally working with the Department of Education in many states.

Ed’s background is in commercial fishing. He has been a commercial fisherman for about 30 years. Fishing out of Seabrook, Virginia, New Jersey.

Putting the two backgrounds together, they began talking about how difficult it is to get local products out to local consumers. They also realized how little the general public knew about what was happening to the fishing industry.

Fishermen are not famous for speaking on their behalf. They are hard working people that want to go fishing and make a living. Carolyn hopes to help local fishermen by helping educate the public about local fishing.

The fish market was one way in which they were trying to inform the community.

CHAPTER 2

Four years later, The Eastmans close their fish market to have more time with their family and start selling direct off their boat. They are shifting focus to Lobster and Shrimp, and chartering.

  April through October, Ed takes 6 people our fishing for the day on their boat the Sweet Jen. If you want to have a great day out on the water, catch fish, and have it filleted by your captain, then this is for you!  Those same great fillets that were cut in our market are also found by chartering our boat- Ed is your captain, guide, and fish cutter.
