CSF registration is open for summer 2011- We are excited about plans to add lobster as a weekly share. - you would get the value in lobster to your fish share. We also have some really great pick up locations! We can't wait to reconnect with former shareholders and meet newcomers!
go to : www.eastmansfish.com and go into CSF- shares and pick up locations and then member sign up.
This time of year is always unpredictable. We have our gear out of the water and are in the process of switching to shrimping. That means we do not have product to sell for this coming market at the Wentworth Greenhouses. The only product around right now for local fresh seafood is shrimp. We've called around to fishing friends in NH and they're all either shrimping or waiting a while for the fish to show up again. Wild caught fish are unpredictable.
We're gearing up for a great 2011!
Best to all of you!
Carolyn and Ed

What a year 2010 was for us! As always, it was filled with it's highs and lows. I can't say enough thanks and how apprectiative we are for your support.- words are not enough. Ties run deep.
I'll start with lows and end with Highs!
Lows:(We'll make these in small print)
April - Eddie goes to Chincoteague, VA as he has for the past 18 years to fish for Monkfish and Skate. This started when fishing regulations changed to try and make a living during those months- fishing was closed up here. This continues to be a hard time for us- 2 months away.
May - Catch Shares takes place - making us turn to our "crystal ball" of business planning trying to figure out what the furture will hold for us. NMFS says it is voluntary, the industry feels it's like your mother saying , "would you like the catch shares or the catch shares- it's your choice."
June- we tentatively begin fishing with fingers crossed and a lot of hope that " hard work pays off" will get us through. We committed to a lot of people and did not want to let them down.
July/Aug- we begin to withdraw from many farmer's markets due to concern of running out of our newly appointed quota.
Highs:( let's bold these!)
429 people sign up for Eastman's Local Catch - we are blown away - and so many return- maybe we're doing something right!!!
We start delivering fish to schools on a monthly basis- the rewards are endless- we've heard many fish stories from the students around the seacoast- if you ever want to join us when we do our presentations about local fish it is certainly priceless!
Eastman's has a extremely busy season at the retail fish market and we employed 5 full time people.
We are invited by FARNET, a European fisheries group, that supports local fisheries projects, to present at their conference in the Netherlands- couldn't believe they found our little local fish shop. We were so very honored to be asked. It opened our eyes and reenergized us.
So what's next for 2011? We've got things in the works! We'll keep you posted!
Best to all of you!
